Biography

Asaduzzaman Noor was born in 31 October 1946 at Nilphamari District Sadar. His father’s name is Abu Nazem Mohammad Ali and mother’s name is Amina Begum.

 

He completed his Graduation from Nilphamari college. He is married. His wife’s name is Dr.Shaheen Akhter, who is a professor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (Child desease specialist and neurologist). Asaduzzaman Noor has one son and one daughter.

He started his career in 1972 to work in a well circulated weekly named ‘Chitraly’. In 1973, he worked in a advertising firm as a general manager. He joined in Soviet Embassy ( at present Russia ) as a Press Relation Officer. In 1980, he joined in East Asiatic Advertising Ltd. ( at present Asiatic Three Sixty ) as  General Manager.

 

His career in the theatre started in 1973 when he joined the largest group ‘Nagorik’. Till this date, he made more than 600 appearances in 15 different plays of the group. He directed few plays. He wrote few plays for stage and TV. He acted more than 110 TV plays and serials, such as-Kothao Keu Nei, Oyomoy, Ei Sob Din Rattri, Bohubrihi etc. He acted in over 50 Radio plays and a good number of full length feature film. He produced about 50 A/V communication materials for both commercial and social communication. He is now a Member of Libaration War Museum Trustee Board, President of Abbriti Somonnoy Parishad, Member of Sommilito Sangskritik Jote and General Secretary of Bangladesh – Russia Friendship Society.

 

He joined East Pakistan Student Union in 1963. In 1965, he selected as General Secretary of Nilphamari College Student Union. He was the Cultural Affairs Secretary of East Pakistan Students’ Union. In 1971, he actively participated in the Libaration War and later he joined Communist Party. He involved himself in various political-social-cultural activities during a long period of time including anti Ershad movement and movement demanding the trial of war criminals under the leadership of Jahanara Imam. In 1998, he joined Bangladesh Awami League. In 2002, he was elected as Publicity Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Central Committee and in 2009, he was elected as Cultural Affairs Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Central Committee. In 2001 and 2008, he was elected as a Parliament Member from Nilphamari-2. He was Member of different Parliament Standing Committee of the 9th  National Parliament, such as-Standing Committee for the Ministry of Cultural Affairs ,Standing Committee for the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology etc. He was elected as a Parliament Member from Nilphamari-2 of the 10th National Parliament Election and he took Oath in 12 January 2014 as a Minister for the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.

 

He visited many countries, such as- The United States, The United Kingdom, Bulgeria, Japan, Vietnam, Russia, Italy, France, India, Germany , Australia, Switzerland, Netharland  etc.
